Is there a way to force Supersampling Antialiasing?

I have an HD4890. I know SSAA is possible on the HD5xxx cards by selecting Quality AAA in the CCC. Also i read it is possible to force SSAA on Nvidia cards through the program "Nhancer".

Is there a way to force SSAA 2x2 or 4x4, (even 1x2 and 2x1 is okay) on an HD4890? I am specifically looking for it in Call of duty modern warfare 1/2. MSAA has too much texture shimmering around the perimeter of aliased geometry:

Extremely lame. even 24x Edge detect MSAA looks like crap compared to 2x SSAA with a - LOD bias.

There was a guy on OCN who edited his registry values for CCC to show the option in the AAA menu with a 4800 series card. But when he enabled it, he only got SSAA working in OpenGL, which is like a really rare language these days. He said it had no effect in DirectX and everything still ran with MSAA.

With Nhancer, you can force SSAA even on 8800 series cards. The framerate might drop drastically to unplayable numbers, but it's still good for using with older games (both directx & opengl). Ex: If you get 500 fps in Medal of Honor Allied Assault on an 8800gts 320, then 125 fps with SSAA on is still very playable.

It pisses me off that I can max out Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare at 24x Edge detect AA on my 4890 and still have ~60-70 fps, but the image quality is worse than a 5870 with 2x SSAA.

Sweet, gonna give it a try.

Edit: I tried it, but I do not have the option for GPU scaling in my CCC. I'm in Win XP on a 4890. Tried Catalyst 10.5 beta & 10.3 WHQL. No dice. I think the option is absent because i'm connected via dsub/vga instead of dvi. Could that be a reason?

I guess it's a no go for me as this LCD doesn't have DVI (it's old). OH well, I'll have to settle for MSAA & shimmering...
