Is there a way to determine the amount of time it takes to d/l a file on 56k?

I have a 9mb file for the parerents to download of my daughter, but they are on dialup and I want to be able to tell them the approximate amount of time it will take to download the movie at 56k.

Depends on their actual connection speed ( usually <=53.3 kilobits / second), server speed, congestion, etc. From personal experience back on dialup, I peaked at about 5-5.5 kilobytes / second. Roughly 200 seconds per meg, by nine megs, is 1800 seconds. Divided by minutes is .. 30 mins? It would be best if they used a download manager, too.

average speed is about 5K/s. 9216k / 5k/s 1843seconds / 60 = 30 minutes or so. i hope thats about right.

On average for me, 10MB was less than an hour, but definitely more than 30 minutes. I guess 45ish
