Well, a search brought up this:

Look for a program called TMPGEnc HERE. Or look for another converter there.

I'm trying to convert Real video files to MPG or AVI (*.rm or *.ram). Anyone have any clue?

vcd help try there and click converstion, its a pretty good site, and it'll give you step by step instructions with screen shots and trouble shooting, pretty nice, I just convert all the videos I get on my digi camcorder and put them on VCDS and watch them on my DVD player!
