For example...

Craigslist... it's all white page w/ dark lettering really is bugging me.. along w/ all other pages set up like that....

Is there any way, using firefox or IE7, that I can customize my browser to invert the colors???

thanks, finkle

Yes, edit default browser CSS stylesheet.

Also I am pretty sure there are third party plugins/programs that can do it for you.

In firefox.... tools, options, content, fonts and colors... is that the CSS stylesheet you are talking about???

I'll have to tweak the font colors to get somthing I like, but I did get rid of the light bulb glaring into my face....

Maybe you can turn down the brightness level on your video card.

I've always thought black backgrounds with white text bothered people. This is the first time I've heard the opposite. I mean, even with Microsoft Word the default is black text on white. It's everywhere.

Black background with white text is easier on the eyes on a monitor. You have less harsh light shining in your eyes that way.

The black text with white background is just common because that's the way paper is.

I do like them... and you're right, easy on the eyes...

I'll look that up...

I'm a sissy?? give me a kiss big boy... ;)

If you guys haven't noticed, the background here is not white...

I do turn down the brightness, but it seems to lose some crispness of the type???

I'll look at seamonkey and read on the CSS thing...

thanks, finkle

See that's what I'm contesting. After reading a page such as the above my eyes get tired and fuzzy. I know someone else started a thread on just this topic alone a few years back. I remember because my page is black on white text (but it's not a page that requires much reading).

Here it is: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=38&threadid=1485041

I've been using this color scheme for 3 years now, because like you, i got tired of those bright white backgrounds.

ps: in Seamonkey you change colors through the edit preferences menu. It's easy.

For those who deal with LCDs which can't seem to get dull enough whites, there's a program called NEC Brightness Controller. It puts a tray icon that lets' you slide-control your brightness and it darkens it a lot more than normal display settings allow. Been using it for years.
