Is there a way to capture movie sequences in games?

Games like Final Fantasy 7/8 and Diablo 2 have AWESOME movie clips. I'd love to be able to copy those movie files somehow so I can watch them at my leisure without having to play the game for hours just get to the point where I am able to view the movies.

Diablo 2 lets you view the movie scenes whenever you like, but you'll need to have the CD to play it.

Assuming they are in a proprietary format or generated by the game and your only option is then to capture the screen then try SnagIt or Hypersnap or the like available from common file sites like download, hotfiles, etc.

...have you checked the dir's on the installed game directory, and on the CD to make sure that the video clips you want aren't in AVI format or something like that?

I am almost certain these games have their own proprietory formats that cannot be read.

I looked at Snagit, and they do capture video. The same company that makes snagit also has a product called Camtasia that probably will do a better job. I'll check them out tonight...

Use a video card with VIVO. Send the video out to a VCR, then later, play it back in again! There's be some loss- but unless you have pro equipment it's the best you're gonna' do!

Diablo II uses mpq files, like Blizzard always has, I have never found a decoder for those files, since their data files seem to be MPQ files too...I jsut bought the collectors edition for 10 bucks more and got the DVD with all of the cinematics
