Is there a way I can get rid of non-functioning/outdated bookmarks in Firefox?

Uh...how does this approach avoid going to through each of those bookmarks? I mean I can sort them as such but I would have to check each of them out, right?

I was looking more for a program that could do this for me, i.e. try to communicate with the website that each link points to and determine if it is still functional.

Figured if you hadn't been somewhere since date x it would allow easy removal of "outdated" bookmarks

no idea on 3rd party software soz

The problem with that is many people including myself have a lot of bookmarks that they never look at, but are still important. I have many tutoials in my bookmarks that may not help me, but I put it in my bookmarks because it seems like it would be very helpful for others. That way when someone asks a question about the subject on a forum or something I can post the link to the guide.
