Is there a way I can find out...

how fast hairspray explodes at. meters per second-wise.

reason I ask, is im trying to figure out how fast a potato shoots out of my potato gun. just need the volume, the area, and the volume per second I believe.

Because of all the variables involved wouldn't you be better off videotaping it? Maybe shoot it and have a mark at 5 feet.

if I remember correctly it was

A1V1=A2V2

which means, at area 1, velocity is X. when the area is a smaller number, velocity needs to be larger to be equal to a1v1. basically, why the potato gun works, when the area is smaller, faster velocity

if I can get the velocity of the hairspray, I know the volume of both of the other things I need

none of the cameras I have are any good where I can get an accurate reading unfortunately.

im not including friction either, just want to know the velocity of the potato at its best point. slightly after ignition, after acceleration

Right - I would think that the concentration, namely oxygen vs hairspray, is going to be a big factor.
