Is there a way I can add resolutions to my available options in display properties?

I was just reading the thread about the 1280x1024 resolution and how its the spawn of Satan. (I use 1280x960) However, the higher resolutions that are supported by my video card/monitor are 1280x960, 1280x1024, 1600x1024 and 1600x1200. I'd like to be able to run something higher than 1280x960, but lower than 16x12. Is there a hack or something that will allow me to utilize other resolutions than the default ones listed?
