Is there a Team AnandTech Folding@Home Team?

I've seen a few posts about Folding@Home here but have not found anything AnandTech related in the stats.

Or is starting a Folding@Home team discouraged because of the heated battles with DPC in RC5 and the many other projects going at once?

I downloaded the console version and it seemed to run fine on my dial-up connected Celeron 548 overnight.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a TA folding@home team. It's a new project and many have said it's still buggy and right now they don't have very good stats. I don't even know if they allow teams yet.

TA wants to be the #1 team in all DC projects. If there isn't a TA team start one. I for one would never discourage any DC project for TA.:)

Yeah! What blade_47 said

Start one if they accept teams... the TeAm will "rule" the world ;)

I know I've seen some folding threads... but I for one would appreciate more info on how it runs, how the stats are any info... Good luck in this venture :)

With love and respect your fellow TA member

Ok, I've reinstalled the console client, which is apparently the only way to change names or join a team. When the client installs it asks you for your username. If you put something in parenthesis after your user name, the server assumes that is the team which you are joining.

I entered:

Chipster22 (Team AnandTech)

I'm not sure if capitalization matters, so it might be important to note the capital 'T' in AnandTech if other want to join.

The biggest flaw I've noticed so far as a dial-up connected user is that the client can only download 1 work unit at a time and insists on dialing out when it is finished in about an hour on my Celly 548.

Here is an example of one of their stat pages.

Folding Stats

I didn't seem to show up in the stats until later this morning so there must be some delay in the updates.

That is a really bad point!:Q ,that alone would stop me from ever doing that(not that I want to stop SETI ;) ) ,maybe they'll allow for queing of 'WU's if enough people complain?

Looks like they don't even have teams, just individual users. Kinda lame stats...

I think capitalization does matter, look at the half dozen or so entries for Hardware France, some of them differ only by letter case.

So, for consistency it would be best to cut and paste (Team AnandTech) at the end of your name.

Thx Hellburner. Is there any way to see all the members of a particular team?

Searching the Folding@Home Individual Contributors for Team AnandTech members reveals the following:

Rank User Units
2605 Chipster22 (Team AnandTech) 6
3735 Hellburner (Team AnandTech) 1

Which adds up to the 7 units for Team AnandTech shown so far. I don't know of any easier way to find the members of the team other than through a browser search.

This is probably the only time I'll ever lead anywhere on Team AnandTech with all the heavy hitters around! :D

Until Fqueue is released and they improve their data servers this will be a difficult program for people on dial-up to run. For a fast machine it takes less than an hour to run a work unit, then it takes 5+ minutes to get another one. If I was to run all my machines my phone line would be tied up 24/7, even a queueing program wouldn't fix the slowness of their data servers.
