Is there a software VPN server that will run on XP Pro?

Looking for a way to set up a VPN for personal use, so I'm not willing to pay out of the nose for a business-priced server OS. A little help? 🙂

I know many others will say otherwise here... but XP Pro

In case you didn't catch that, it can do it itself if set up correctly, just not for too many connections I would assume.

Really? I've asked, and everyone said I need a server version of 2K or XP. I can't find the setup options anywhere on XP Pro though... All I can find is the stuff to connect to a VPN (Dial-up options). Thnx! Now it's time to go look for that info...

I found a Win2K Server configuration HOWTO that led you through a "Routing and Remote Access Services" (RRAS) configuration wizzard to set up VPN, but they said that it was only on 2K Server. I found "Routing and Remote Access Services" in the management console in XP Pro and enabled it but the only options I have are "Start," "RESTART," "STOP" and "PAUSE" with no way to configure VPN. I'm sure Windows.net Server will be WAAAAAY too expensive for me... But that looks like the only way beyond buying and setting up a dedicated VPN device.

Figured it out a little bit 🙂
Use the "New Connection Wizard" and select "Set up an advanced connection" then "Accept incoming connections" then "Allow Virtual Private Connections"
After setting up an account, it works! I'll be back to ask about Gateway configuration and IP routing later... Thnx ppl!
