is there a size limit in copying single files in win7?

I have been trying the last hour to backup my moms pst file but windows wont let me tells me it cant read from the source file

the pst is about 10gb

havent had this issue before

You should be able to copy it no matter the size of the image. Maybe see if your folder options limit the size of your copying.

it only affects moving from c to any other drive. never had this issue before any ideas?

Are your other drives formatted as FAT or FAT32? if so i believe there is a 4GB filesize limit.

Max file size is 16TB for NTFS formatted drives, which Windows 7 uses. 4gb is the limit for FAT32.

all mine are formated for ntfs and i tried tera copy but it to stops at about 2.5gb of data

did it give a reason/error? something unusual is going on-- i have a 15gb file that ive moved around without issues in windows 7.

can't read from the source file or disk

it only does it on C: is there some setting I can change?

is her email open? try logging in as another user to back it up? try booting from a linux live cd/flash drive and copy it?

Disk Properties, Tools, Check Now.

If that goes through without issue, I've seen this happen with bad RAM. Try moving the HDD to another computer. Could be any number of bad components in the PC if it's not the HDD.

Probably a bad disk sector. Try running scandisk to see if it fixes it.

chkdsk /r.
