Is there a site to help me tune my Guitar?

Hi All,

I decided I wanted to start to learn the guitar. I am going to take a class next quarter, but maybe wanted to start messing around. I got my sisters guitar in semi-permanent loan since she decided to give up trying to learn. She said it is fine but just needed to be tuned. Is there some sort of webpage that will play the proper sounds for the strings and I could try to tune it on my own?

Thanks for any replies.

Tune your guitar

Another tuner plus a downloadable version.

If you start to get serious, you can pick up an electronic tuner pretty cheap.

To tune manually, you get the top (sixth) string in tune somehow. Then note it at the fifth fret, and that will be the note (A) that the fifth string is tuned to. The other strings are the same way except for the second string, which is the same note (B) as the third string at the i]fourth[/i] fret. This is useful to know for a quick check.

Good luck with your practice!

Edit: the second link above sounds a lot better to me, I'm not sure the first one is in tune all that well.

Acoustic.

And $20-30 bucks is a lot of money to me right now. I am a poor college student at the end of my funds. I literally have NO extra money outside of what I have saved up to pay for school.

Thanks for the links Sten!

Any good sites to help me learn on my own some?

Thanks again!

You are welcome -- it feels good to finally post something useful to somebody.

I don't know of any links right off hand, but I'm sure there are some out there. Try running a search in google.com to see what you can find.
I did find this, but I didn't go so far as making up a fake email and downloading it.

Dude, I'm taking a guitar class this semester. For a newbie that never played a guitar before, a cheap electronic turner ($25, Fender) is a BIG BIG BIG help for me. It has 3 LEDs, the middle one is GREEN and other 2 is RED. STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO BUY ONE. It'll save you alot of time to listen and adjust sounds you download and sounds from your guitar. It's portable, too.

Do you know anybody that has an electronic tuner? Borrow one for an hour or two.
