Is there a single video card faster than 2x 8800 GTX's

Title says it all. For a card that is out of production, SLI'ing these seems to be the most common upgrade over buying any new single card.

Assume my question is paired with a Q6850 @ 3.67

But there is no killer card out right now that can beat an 8800GTX SLI overall?

And if i went this route i'd 4870x2 because the 9800 GX2 really only has 512mb of vram while the 4870 x2 has 1gb.

So my opinion would be your options are to sli two 768mb 8800gtx's or grab a single 4870X2.

Nothing worth upgrading to at this time, no... Maybe when Nvidia releases their new GTX290 series might there be a chance, but I don't think even a GTX290 will beat 2 8800GTX's...

Depending on res a gtx280 OC could come close, and no hassle of SLI scaling either. If it's worth upgrading, don't think so ...

Interesting. I am just getting back into the scene and I went out and bought a pre-built system for many different reasons. I then discover I can do the SLI thing and find out the cards are relatively cheap, but I figured since they are out of production, I still won't be able to keep up with the latest and greatest cards and game. Seems I unknowingly made a good move on adding the second. Right now I am only playing games in he Half Life orange box, but I have no SLI visual issues whatsoever.
