Is there a router that works with ms messenger?

I have a smc 7004abr and it does not work with voice or file transfer with ms messenger. Is there a router out there that is reliable and does work with messenger? I called smc and they told me it would probably not work until the upnp was released in the firmware for it.
 
Linksys just came out with firmware that has solved all of my messenger problems. (well at least most of them) My roommates used to always get disconnected, but now they stay on all day long. BEFSR41 is the model if you want to check it out.
