I'll just leave this here.

And I called the place I ordered from on May 1, sent me it again using FedEx ground and that got here May 5. Now I need to have USPS return to sender my original order.

I've started ordering and building an htpc for some family and have ordered parts from all over. Some from retailers, ebay, forums etc. Most of the forum purchases go usps and I get it in 2-3 days, the ebay usps orders get here in the same amount of time.

The ups and fedex orders always take a lot longer without exception. Having shipped some things also, usps seems like a no brainer. They have free saturday delivery, almost always cheaper or maybe slightly more expensive but it gets there in 2 days.

I am currently having the opposite experience at the moment. Bought a drive from Newegg who decided, because it was the fastest way to get it to me, to use DHL who then tendered the package to USPS. I ordered on the 26th and now it is the 7th and no package. Tracking shows the package got to my city on the 1st so USPS must have lost or absconded with it.

Needless to say I am not a big fan of either USPS or Newegg right now. Other than Amazon..? Any recommendations?

Amazon Prime

I got lucky today. Standard 5-7 delivery came 4 days early and UPS bypassed the USPS to deliver instead. If it had gone to the USPS, I would have been lucky to get it by the 7th day.

maybe i'm just lucky, but shipping is always insanely fast (<3 buisness days) no matter which carrier I use, even the cheapest usps option

i use whatever is cheapest with tracking in a fair amount of time. if you have the printer it might be cheaper to print off your own postage and drop it off somewhere.

if the person you're buying from is using a fulfillment center it would depend on how they have it set up.

I heard shipwire isn't the greatest but they have a lot of carrier options:

And now it looks like delivery is postponed by 4 additional days. 11 days since I ordered, 9 transit days total for a 320 mile trip. Wish there was a way to figure out in advance when stuff will be shipped via Smartpost/Mail Innovations so that I can avoid ordering stuff from vendors using the abominations.

USPS has a lot of problems but actually doing much reform requires say so from congress to give them more autonomy. The retirement prefund obligation also isn't helping matters.
