As long as I burn them ok, is there a reason not to get 80 minute CDR's? Can some players not read them? Is there any disadvantage to them?

I am pretty certain that most players can read them (the ones that can actually read CD-R's in the first place)

If you burn them ok, there's no reason for not buying 80 mins cd, except for the price. Usually the problem with 80 mins cd is with the burner. But if you buy the CDs just for copying games, I think 80 mins CD won't be useful as many (almost all) Cd games are less than 650 megs. The 80mins will be useful if you use it to copy ur own CD album.

Well the reasons im asking is because Outpost.com has a 50 pack of 80 minute CDR's for only $14.95 with free overnight shipping, which is a kick ass price. Im about to run out of 74 minute CDR's, and still have most of my 80 minutes left, so I want to know if I should buy another 74 minute pack for compatabiliy, or if I should just go with the 80's.

80's it is :p

Well, usually the only problem with 80min CD's is that if you burn music to them, there is no guarantee that your discman or stereo will read it. 80min CD's don't confine to the Redbook Audio standards, so that's the only problem. However, my JVC and my old Sony discman worked fine with them, so I say go for the 80min ones.

I've seen some MS products that are more than 650mb. Also there are some music cd's that are more than 74min long.

That's right, if any of you have heard of the British Techno group "Prodigy", their second last album "Music for a Jilted Generation", was over 78 minutes long. And it's worked on all of the CD players I've tried it on, which is a lot...

I just "like" 74's personally. It's just a habit back when 80's cost more than double the price of 74's. Back then it was rediculous to buy 80's unless you needed them. Now the prices are closer sure, but I'll still stick with my 74's I think... Cheers!

i just boutght thoes 80 min imation CD-r's from worst buy, and they are not neerily as good of quality as the 74 min cd-r's. i dont know, but it seams like most of the 80 min cd's are poor quality.

If you ever try to copy Star Trek: Armada (for backup purposes ;) ) on to a 74min CD-R, you will find that it is 19 seconds to big. It worked perfectly on an 80min CD-R. Also, WinNT 4 is too big but I never tried it on a 700MB CD-R.
