Is there a program that will take a MP3/WAV and strip out the words?

It is pretty impossible to completely remove words from a song since all the instruments and voices have been mixed down into one sound. There are programs out there that try to do such a thing. But you could probably do it yourself if you have music editing software by turning the mids all the way down on the song.

Surely there is some that will make a decent attempt. It depends on the song too. My old stereo had a karaoke feature which worked "OK".

Yes, just do what I said and turn down the mids all the way. Thats probably the best way. Or you could use a program to change where and how much the mids are turned down on different parts of the song. That way it will keep up with the dynamicness of the song. *trying to sound smart*
