basically what the title says, if anyone knows of a program or a way to verify the disc or to test it to make sure it isn't bad I would appreciate it.

Thanks

If you are using Nero, there is a box that can be checked for it to "verify the data". You'll see this option on the screen after you press the "burn" button. It can be checked or unchecked while it's burning.
It checks the data written against your source and reports the errors. But if your source is messed up, it won't report any errors

Try running the Scandisc and Disk Quality Tests (under Extras).

If you're using Liteon drives, then Kprobe can check for C1/C2 errors.

I have a plextor drive, I started the program and went in to try the scan disc and the quaility test.

The scan disc came back clean 100% on a DVD that has a lot of skipping.

I tried to run the disc quality tests and it kept on giving me an error "Error initalizing test"

also when I tried to run that above test, the start button wouldn't be active until I right clicked in the middle of the screen and went to the options...and clicked ok...and when I came back then the start button was enabled.

I am going to look for the help on this program and also update the firmware on the DVD drive to version 1.08

I will see if that helps

Thanks for the program I hope I can get it to work

If your source was bad, you'll have a disk that is bad but checks out error free.
Not all players like every disk too.

Good point, I don't know how well this nero cd-dvd speed works. Every test I try to run the start button is greyed out...and the ones that do run say it cna't initialize the test

I must be missing something

I am using my DVD burner to evaluate the disc to see if it has errors it is a plextor 708a

I am using a disc that I know stutters throughout the disc but I can't seem to get it to run any tests...I updated my drive to the latest firmware to 1.08 too that didn't help at all

I also used a disc that I know doesn't have any errors and it still didn't read it

any ideas ?

I found the problem my drive isn't supported to run the jitter test....can't believe a plextor drive isn't supported 🙁
