Is there a proggy that records live TV to DIVX on the fly?

NFS4

No Lifer
Is there a program that records live TV straight to DIVX instead of to MPG...or is it even possible?

My DDR radeon VIVO would do it, when I usd to have that card. The PC wasn't fast enough for fullscreen though, had to do 320x240.

Are our PC's even fast enough to do real time DiVX encoding? Doesn't it take hours to rip and encode a DVD?

Yeah, 320x240 is all I need for cable TV capturing.

Most of the cpu power is in decoding the mpeg2 stream. Most of the new cpus can do divx + mp3 at 50+ fps too.

Then get a radeon 🙂

I've tried iuVCR with good results, it records up to 640x480. I would record the audio uncompressed to save the CPU and then compress it later with Virtualdub.

I think PowerVCR can do what you want. It works well for what I need it to do at least. 🙂

I have PowerVCR II, but I can't seem to find the option to capture directly to DIVX.
