Title pretty much explains it.... Cant believe I totally forgot about her older setup. Ah well, was the el cheapo Corsair ValueRAM for $60-somethin for 2x512MB. Running @ 133FSB right now. I totally dont know anything about the new Tbreds/bartons/semprons, but hoping someone here does

I was still running my T-Bird 1.0GHz thru those times... and finally upgraded to Skt939 + A64, so never had to look at that 'old' stuff. Thanks for any input.

Yeah i tried bumping the fsb to 200 and dropping the multiplier, but it didnt like that... windows bluescreens, etc. Proc was running @ less than the standard 1.67 too... was at 1.60. New BIOS may fix that tho... will have to check the date on it next time i'm over there.

As for the XP 3200+ -- damn they're still expensive. I can get a A64 venice for just over $100... and these bartons are going for about 150

My 2000+ is at 2.1Ghz, but no PCI/AGP lock on my Asus A7V8X so i can only get to 185fsb...

unless the PCI/AGP lock is on, you'll have no luck.

There are two. The AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 400Mhz fsb model which runs at 2.1Ghz. The other is the AMD Athlon XP 3200+, which runs at 2.2Ghz.

The 8RDA boards have both a AGP and PCI lock. I used to have one, and it served me very well for over 3 years (I finally upgraded to a Sempron64 a few weeks ago).

Is the XP 2000+ a Palomino or T-bred core? If it's a Palomino, I wouldn't expect much out of the overclock...the first chip I used with the 8RDA was a 2000+ Pally, and it didn't overclock for crap.

It could be either a nearly top-end Pallie or a t-bred. If you have the machine up and running, CPU-Z can tell you the core. If not, then the Pallie core is larger and more square while the t-bred is more rectangular.

Thanks for all the replies guys... Now the question becomes would a 400FSB make that much of a difference. She does a lot with Adobe Creative Sutite 2 (heavy in Photoshop Work), and she will have 1.5GB of PC3200. Last articles I read (old) say that even though the FSB got bumped up, its not a big difference. I would think maybe with normal programs, but shes doing some pretty memory-intesive things. Thoughts?
