Is there a problem with calling in sick if you're hungover?

Pretend you go out, drink, come home, and wake up the next morning feeling crappy. You have plenty of sick time available at work. There is no absolutely pressing need for you to be at work that day.

Do you call in sick?

BTW, if you're one of those people who would come in to work even if you were dying from ebola, don't answer the poll.

I don't know about ebola but I've always had the philosophy that being sick is one thing... No point in passing it along to everyone else.

Self-inflicted sick is another issue altogether. Don't do the crime if ya can't do the time. It's a "personal responsibility" thing with me.

I did this ONCE, like a year or two ago, and now everytime anything related to work responsibility comes up, my fiancee always brings it up. She wants me to come in to work 2 hours late tomorrow so she can have the car in the morning. I say "I'm supposed to come to work on time" and she replies with "What difference does it make, you can stay home cause you're hungover, they won't care if you're late!"

Bah.

Another solution might be to just drink some more until the hangover is gone and then just go in drunk

I'd call in sick. If you go in feeling hungover you probably won't be very productive anyways. However I call in sick all the time and I'll take any excuse I can get.

An unproductive day is still better than calling in. Attendance does matter in your supervisors eyes. Now if you have some f@cked up policy where you dont get paid for unused sick time then fck them and call in.

depends, obviously you don't value your job that much, as you go out and get drunk on a week night. I used to do this, but that was when I was in college, and I really didn't care about work, I would go in hungover as hell, and just sleep, but now I would never dream of it, as my career is important to me.
