Is there a plugin that allows you to play SVCD through Media Player?

I heard there is a way and if anyone knows I would be very appreciated.
I currently have to use PowerDVD.
If anyone recommends a better program???
 
An SVCD codec is included with most DVD players, to my knowledge. So if you install PowerDVD you will now have the ability to watch SVCDs via media player. But it is my personal preference that watching them in PowerDVD is nicer than in media player.
 
even though i have powerdvd xp installed...its such a hassle to play svcd.
also, for some reason, now, my media player can play dvd fine, but without sound. svcd doesnt have sound either. very odd...
any idea?
