Is there a performance difference between Brand name RAM and Generic RAM?

I've always wondered if there was a difference between getting like Kingston or Crucial ram compared to getting just Generic ram...and do they perform better if it's ECC or non-ECC? I've heard many things about that...just wanted to know the truth!

Quality ram like Crucial in general overclock better then generic ram plus they have better overall stability,so it`s worth getting quality ram if you want to overclock or want the best stability.

I believe non-ECC ram is better for overclocking then EEC ram,do check you get the right type of ram for your board.

Overclockability has been covered, which is affected by the CAS latency. Better CAS latencies are generally found on the higher qualiity RAM, which has a name tag on it.
