Is there a need for land lines any more?

I seriously thinking of ditching the land line once and for all...

Could be a problem if you live in a like like me where I don't get any reception anywhere along my street or in my house. I think its because I'm in sort of a valley and that blocks out signals

I still have one. It's how I connect to the internet since cable and DSL have a setup fee of $300,000 (the cost of buying a house in a place where it's available)

Once I get around to porting my landline number to my cell number, I will be landline free. :)

I thought it said land mines. D'oh.

I have a land line for DSL only. I haven't made a land line call since March.

I have a land line and do not have a cell phone. I hate cell phones... though I'm sure I'll get one someday.

We have a business line so our home line isn't necessary but we haven't really justified cutting off the $18/mo. cost since all our utilities are tied to our #.

How does that work ? Or is it mostly just an address they use ?

What # do you give them as contact info then ?

Well, I never got a land line once I went to college, my parents ditched long distance at home and just keep local service.

I still have one and have no intention of going wireless. I have no desire to be reachable at every moment of every day, I don't want to be tempted to talk while driving, and don't want to pay the extra.

I'm with you on that one.

Left hand on the wheel, right hand on the stick, left foot on the clutch and/or brake, right on the gas and/or brake. That just leaves my wang. Unless you want me to whip that out while I'm talking to you, you really don't want my talking on a cell phone while driving.

<-- generally dislikes talking on the phone.

I have a cell and it sits at home. I like landlines. What do you do if there's an emergency and the cell doesn't work or you have *GASP* ZERO BARS?

I only use it some times. Mostly only get calls from telemarketers anyway. Other then that, usefull when your cell is low on batteries.

Of course, I keep it because of DSL.
