is there a more predictable genre than chick flicks?

why go girls go crazy over these?
if you've seen one, you've seen them all...

fortunately, the hotness of the lead actress makes some of them worthwhile.

Scary movies, action movies, sci-fi movies and romance movies are all equal when it comes to the generic ones in terms of predictability.

The art direction in most chick flicks tries to avoid any unpleasant background images. It's a world where no overweight or threatening individuals, such as burly men, poor people, minorities or foreigners exist.

The genre that really bugs me are tv crime shows. The one in particular is Law and Order: Criminal Intent. The detectives played by Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe always coerce a confession from the accused suspect in the final ten minutes.

These movies are made for the simple mind of the female. Therefore, they must be predictable and easy to understand or they risk confusing their target audience. Films and literature made for women must be devoid of any form of complexity and depth as the female mind simply cannot cope with these intricacies. Everyone knows this.

Yeah slasher films

1) Car doesn't start but will start at the last second
2) Victim will go investigate something even though it's obviously extremely dangerous
3) A jock will die horribly, but he's a sexist dickhead so who cares
4) Will take place at night
5) Will likely have a high school party some time in the movie where a bunch of drunk kids get slashed
6) Teenage kids making out somewhere will die. Boy first, then the girl will run away screaming but will meet her doom in the woods.

You forgot the screaming, running girl will have on high heel shoes, one of which will break its heel, and she'll constantly look back while trying to run away, inevitably slowing her down.

This is why I can't stand chick flicks. It's always girl meets guy, they don't really like eachother or might even outright dislike eachother at first, girl and guy warm up to eachother and fall in love, then they get in a fight and don't talk for a while, and finally they realize they are so in love and run into eachother's arms and make out.

Everyone is now saying that horrible horrible movie "The Proposal" is their favorite movie. I have to try really hard not to vomit when I hear this.

It's better than the oxygen channel. That's the ultimate lesbian, male hat channel. It's always women in abuse relationships, where she gets the better of him in the end. Yeah go, girl power.

No, you see, the thing is that the guy and the girl, they HATE each other, which is the opposite of love, and so it's totally unexpected that in the end the experience of having been thrust into an awkward situation where they must work together will lead to them getting married!

I'd love to hear your intepretation of SPike TV or whatever it's called.

Somewhat unrelated, but freshman year in college one of my friends' girlfriend strong-armed him into watching Pride and Prejudice during our University's homecoming. He called me from the bathroom in a low voice, and I narrated the game to him for about 5 minutes before he got found out. 😀
