Is there a "Hot Deals" FAQ somewhere?

This girl I know wants to know how to buy stuff cheap like I do. I was going to just write up an e-mail on it but then I thought it's probably already out there somewhere. At a minimum, it should explain how to use coupons and where to find them, pricematching, hassling Dell CSRs, etc.

Edit: I have no pics. Let's get that out of the way right now.

Nope, it basically comes from personal experience, asking questions and most importantly lurking.

A good start would be reading the How Do I thread which explains some of the basics.

I looked in the How Do I thread, the previous thread linked to in the first post is gone and the current one has barely anything in it.

As far as the personal experience thing, lurking is good but I think it would be helpful to have a document to bring newbies up to speed on how things work. It'd be cool if it were a living document and listed things like what stores will pricematch to whom, which credit cards still have BVG, etc.

I learned my apprentice Ferengi skills by lurking in HD for over a year. I paid special attention to people lilke Rossman. You can't become astute at anything overnight. If you want to learn, then you have to put in the time.

Exactly, it's going to take precious time to learn and finetune your Ferengi skills. It's NOT an overnight process, it took me many many months to find out WHERE coupon codes are, how to PM, all the lingo, there's just so much involved.

A case in point, last week OM had the Canon A40 on sale for $200. Many people tried to use the Staples $30 off coupon and most failed. I decided to give it a shot and succeeded. I got a hot deal by taking a chance.

Apprentice Ferengi Manual, page 153, paragraph 2, "Even if others are unsuccessful at getting a PM or using a coupon you should alway attempt it yourself. To be rejected is a badge of honor. To succeed is to be Ferengi!"

Remember on page 153, paragraph 2, section 31 says to first CALL and get someone to committ over the phone that they have the item in stock for the advertised price and will accept a competitor's coupon. That way when you visit the store, ask for that person, wip out the coupon and bam you're done.

A friend of mine tried to buy an A40/S200 today (told him about the deal days ago) but all of Portland, Oregon is SOLD OUT of these digicams.
