Is there a "go-to" budget microphone in 2024 for talking to people within games?

My budget is £40 or so.

Usually people use a headset, I think? That amount of money won't get you anything too fancy, probably no bluetooth, for instance. But you can definitely get a wired usb headset for that or less.

If you just want a mic (you already have headphones or speakers you like) than any cheap USB podcaster mic is going to be fine, quality-wise. This is just an off-brand one but it has a load of good reviews and is well inside your price range.

I'm still using an ancient logitech "boom mic" (model 980186-0403) and still works great. You can get one off ebay "new" for like $15.
