I just noticed on my new comp there's no Game port! Is there a convertor? Anyone else know if they are phasing out these ports for USB?

Yes

Most joysticks are USB now. Newegg sells a converter for $13 that lets you connect an older gameport based joystick/device to a USB port.

The Audigy 2 comes with a joystick bracket that uses an additional slot back and connects to the card via a cable.

DON'T BUY THE RADIO SHACK DEVICE.

It simulates a 2-axis 4-button input device and only supports ancient analog controllers that could be configured by simply specifying axes and buttons.

It is not a tru USB gameport.

Hey, I use ancient devices like that 🙂

I bought one from pccables, it's in the mail so to speak right now. Link.

Don't know what you're needing one for, but for me it's for a racing controller, TSW uses this converter so I'm going to. Just not going to buy from them for twice as much. Heard of a few guys using the Radio Shack one, it worked, but lost their split axis pedals.

Glanced at newegg, didn't see that one mentioned. Anyone else find it?

So do I 😀

I consider myself a PC input guru of sorts (I even have the Nintendo 3D1 PC joystick, in addition to the Capcom Pad Soldier PC version, Space Orb 360, every Sidewinder device and the best of all: Adaptoid)

Even so, a true gameport adapter would be better. It must be possible if high-quality external USB sound cards exist!
