Is there a free version of WindowBlinds 5 or something?

Is that the one that lets you put on custom themes? IIRC you can just modify uxtheme.dll and windows will take any theme without 3rd party software - cuts down on resource use as well as being free.

I thought wincustomize.com had all that stuff.

they have all the themes and skins, but not the app to utelize them.

I'll check download.com thanks.

The patched uxtheme.dll I've always used was something like the 'UXTheme Patcher [Neowin]'. It's always worked perfectly for me. It's only for applying visual styles, but a good visual style makes it look nice. Windowblinds can do some additional UI effects, but it's not worth the $$, resources, or bugs (maybe newer versions are better) for me.

Just do what durag says. Go to neowin forums. There a complete forum just on customizing windows.

Just remember that with Windowblinds you will get features such as per-pixel alpha blending, the ability to change theme colors on the fly, and it does not replace your system files as the theme hack does. It also takes up very little resources, and actually uses less than Windows theme service.

will do thanks.

Does anyone know how to uninstall the trial version of windowblinds? I installed it, but want to see if the uxtheme.dll patch will work and I can't find a way to uninstall windowblinds.

I find shell packs to be much more efficient and better looking than windowblinds and stuff like that
If you're just looking to apply custom themes, google "neowin uxtheme.dll patcher"

1: get the neowin uxtheme.dll patcher
2: go to themexp.org or deviantart.com (use the stupid search, and click your way to visual styles) and get the visual styles
3: profit!
