when i right click the folder and go to properties it comes up right away.. i would think your sweet system would be about the same?

I'm curious about this question too. I figured winXP would show folder size in the details thing, but alas, no...

If you click the folder and then hit ALT-ENTER, that'll shave off a good .45 seconds to the process. ;)

All kidding aside... as long as I've known Windows, there's no other way to do it.

In windows explorer

View>details

it will show it in the bottom of the window, on the bottom bar

That will tell you a file size, but not a folder.

You don't have to view details for that to work.

That only shows the files in your current folder. It doesn't count the files in subfolders and such.

My bad, was thinking of my burning software.

How long does it take to right click and pick properties? It has to count them? Mine shows it as quick as it comes up, fast.

Yeah, it can take a really long time when there are lots of little files to count up. I don't think there is anything you can really do to make it faster. Except get a faster hard disk, of course.
