Is there a doctor in the house?

apparently I acquired mononucleosis about a week ago, the problem is the only thing I've had is a high fever for less than 24 hours of starting mono, and a small sore throat which is now gone. I have had no fatigue whatsoever and have not missed any work and I was out mowing 5 lawns today. The doctor did a blood test and it came back positive. So am I just really lucky or is there SOME way the diagnosis is wrong?

Not everyone has a severe, in-bed-for-two-weeks, type of reaction. But be courteous to everyone else and don't spread it around.

It may take a while for it to hit you. I played football with it for almost two weeks before it really knocked the crap out of me (passed out after a game with a high fever). The doctor originally misdiagnosed it as a stomach virus.

Yeah I dunno, I had a fever for less than 24 hours when I first got it.. it was pretty high like 103 degrees.. but now I'm feeling fine, I used to have a sore throat but not any more. Hopefully it doesn't kick in with fatigue.

why did the doc suspect mono? usually, the sore throat persists for quite sometime before they suspect you might have mono.

Possibly the only way to know for certain is if you are prescribed amoxicilin or ampicilin to treat your sore throat and you subsequently break out in a rash.

i had mild case myself some years back. went in for a really bad sore throat. Dr. said i had mono. He told me to take the week off, instead i took the anitbotics he gave me and kept goin to work. It cleared right up.

He said he would run a blood test (mono test) so they drew two viles of blood in order to do the liver test afterwards (which came back as my liver functioning normally).

Actually, When I was younger I was prescribed amoxicilin and I did break out in Hives... god that was so long ago though.
