H87 or z87, what's the difference?

Everyone wins, the ASRock boards is down IT'S MY FAULT. Just going to pick up a different board for now while I wait on my ASRock Extreme4 back so I can restart my build in the vampire case in October and give my mom this computer with all my awesome parts.

I am looking at the ASRock Fatal1ty H87 Performance or ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer.

Granted I have no idea if these will fit in the Corsair Graphite 230t case. So that's a issue, lol

Thanks Blain actually helped. I was looking at a B chipset which was apparently a good thing I didn't pick that.

So should I save my ASRock board until I get a overclocking CPU (4670k)? It's a Z87 chipset.

I've been building systems for well over 10 years and currently have about 5 running rigs. I purchased an Assrock Extreme4 from Microcenter. the system booted but i started getting memory error codes among others. i took apart everything and found bent socket pins. i never had this issue and it seems like there are more than a few running into this problem. i paid Assrock $50 for an out of warranty RMA for a week-old board. the replacement they sent me started smoking. i then got a Gigabyte board and was up and running with all the same components within an hour. If i ever buy anything like this from a b&m, i open them to check the product.

I wouldn't go with H87 if you have $120 to spend. You are losing out on many important features, OCing being the biggest one. Isn't z87 for overclocking? I have a 4670 which can't be overclocked plus once this computer becomes my moms won't be used for gamimg so not sure the board needs "features".

Kinda thought about fatal1ty but gigabyte was voted better then ASRock AND THAT BOARD IS SO GREEN, yes I find that a flaw (I'm weird)

The msi looks good but again why should I go with a z87 over h87?

Well, you're gonna be using it until October. Pick whichever one you like and the one that has all the features you want. Nothing wrong with h87 since you have a locked CPU, just make sure it's got what you're looking for.

Case has USB 3.0, so yeah need that.

Will be used fo gaming until June or October then home office computer.

Only using the one 760 card.

$100 or less.

Well I built lots of PCs for friends using the B75 chipset.
It has useful features for casual uses and doesn't cost 3 houses. Boards are great from what I heard, read and feedback.

But it's tru H and Z are more loaded feature and slot wise.
