Is there a difference in speed between a P3 450 & P2 450 Mhz?

There is a speed increase but not much, personally owning PII 450's and PIII 450's in the past I can tell you that it is barly noticable - at the time my Quake II scores went up maybe 4 fps in all resolutions.

what does slot 1 and socket 370 means?
Slot 1 is the standard in which the early Celeron and PII chips used to mount to the motherboard. Using slot 1 the CPU was attached to a card that plugged into the motherboard. Socket 370 is the way all current Intel (excluding P4) chips attach to the motherboard and is similar to Socket Super 7 or Socket A.
 
the difference in performance is minimal in most cases. the only real difference between the p2-450 and p3-450 is that the p3 has sse (additional instructions) and that adds perfromance in some multimedia applications (those that are optimized for sse instructions)
