Is there a decent HSF that...

has thermal grease/material preapplied?

I'm a newbie builder and do not want to get into that mess with too much or too little thermal grease. If there isn't a HSF with preapplied stuff, than I'll just stick with the stock HSF in my c2d because it already has thermal material applied if I'm not mistaken. Thanks.

heh bryan, arctic cooler pro, 64/7 doesn't matter, comes with as5 preapplied :p No reason to take off the pre applied crap, and replace it with the same crap ;)

Actually, the Artic Cooling heatsinks come with Artic Cooling's own MX-1 thermal compound. It works very good (comparable to AS5 or even better) and there is no need to replace it with anything different.

actually it's their own stuff, i believe they call it mx-1. in a lot of tests i think it actually works a tad better than as5 (at least on those freezer coolers).

I got about 3-5C less on load taking the pre-applied stuff off my Cooler Pro and putting on AS5 instead. Might have been some other reason I'm not aware of, positioning or som such, but I definitely noticed a difference with the AS5 over the MX-1 on mine.

Idle to normal use didn't really change at all though, just when I was running Orthos to bake it.
