Is there a credit card company that's somewhat...good?

Just out of curiousity. Yes, credit card companies are evil, but which ones are less evil than others? Like, I have a Bank of America card right now but I've been meaning to get rid of it for a while.

What do you use your credit card to buy?

edit: it all depends,.. if you buy heavily from Amazon.com for example, get their card - you get more points to spend on buys from Amazon, or towards a vacation, etc.

I would say most credit cards are good providing you pay them off each month. I have a Merrill Lynch rewards card (now part of BOA) and have never had any problems.

well, what I mean is a credit card company which is actually a good corporate player. Like, Bank of America and Citigroup were disgusting in the 2008/2009 financial crisis. I'd rather take my business to a new up-and-comer in the financial player world.

You're question is too ambiguous. What is "good" to you? High rewards points? I mean, as long as you always pay your balance in full and on time, nothing else should really matter. I have three credit cards, only use one.. But I can pay them all online and it's simple. They give reward points but I don't really use them enough for it to make a huge difference.

Finding an altruistic bank with a conscience may be difficult.

well, what I'm trying to say is I'd like the least bad bank. Like, a bank that wasn't involved with the mortgage crisis and had to be bailed out by the government, if that's at all possible.

Well, what I mean is your standard 0 yearly fee 1% back card, but also one whose corporate parent wasn't involved in the Wall Street meltdown.

You can get a CC from a credit union.

Yeah, this is probably your best bet. The credit union theoretically attempts to maximize the experience for its members.

However, I've never had a credit union card (only been a member of 3) that has had rewards like my BofA card. (4.5% rewards on gas)

If you are good with paying on time and WHOLE balance before due date, any of the cash back CCs are good IMO. I don't care for points and/or miles.

I am thinking about the new Capital One 1.5% cash back on EVERYTHING Quick Silver card. Tempting.

What are you looking for, a bank run by monks? They're a business like any other. Just find a low interest rate and use it responsibly.

I'm glad I didn't choose my credit cards based on their parent companies business practices, but rather on the merits of the card itself.

The best card (from a customer service and worthwhile company standpoint) is my USAA card, but based on the OP's prior posts, he would never qualify for it.

Why are credit card companies evil? They let me spend their money for 30 days before I have to pay back and pay me to do that while at it.

I think you need to clarify what the fuck are you talking about. I'm starting to think this is a retard/troll thread.

They leverage their market assets to continuously grow in margins and marketshare? Thus, ensuring they will be around for awhile?

Err so a bank that doesn't lend money for mortgages. You might wanna look up the definition of what banks do.
