I saw a Debater using a 20" Laptop to play Halo CE at a tournament.

Why the Hell do you have a 20" Laptop for debate? You have 300 pounds of paper to carry around already.(This is literal)

Except for the entire, being able to see more on the screen at once.

Ok, well technically any notebook can replace a desktop. You guys are making up something that doesn't exist. Even a 17" notebook is HIGHLY portable when compared to a desktop. You fold it and put it in the bag, and maybe bring with a charger if you are going somewhere that you can plug it in.

That's why it's called a desktop replacement, not a desktop. It's supposed to replace a desktop, not be the same as one.

I have a 15.4" laptop (MacBook Pro) and I travel with it all day. It is the perfect size for day to day use. I think the 14.1" machines (Dell Latitude D620, etc) are nice, but they are just too small for me. 17" is too big.

15.4" = the perfect form factor

If he's doing Policy (which I assume from the bins of evidence), he can flow on the laptop. I wouldn't want a 20" myself, although its size may actually come in handy in a debate round--the size should allow for a larger, more desktop-like keyboard that the debater can take better notes in. Admittedly, thats a stretch. The guy probably just likes the size for gaming.

BTW, what tourney and event were you competing in?
