Is there a comprehensive list of First-Person Shooters, somewhere?

Hi there,

I must confess that I'm a sucker for FPS games, and I'm trying to get to play as many as possible. There's something about that vicarious experience that would probably scare my psychiatrist... oh, never mind! :p

In any case, my question is clearly stated... is there a place that lists all the available PC FPS games... say, from 1995 onwards?

I know of Mobygames' s list, but it's lumping together shooters with driving games and so on, without allowing me to refine the search... What I need is a list that would include from blockbusters like Unreal or Quake to ballbusters like Daikatana... or Quest4Bush. I'm sure there must be some titles that I haven't heard of, but would be fun to play... that's how I came across (the original) Red Faction, for instance.

You can use the gamerankings.com search engine to do this. Limited to 200 results, but you can then refine your search by date or system (pc or otherwise). The bonus of this is you are also getting a pretty reliable list of whats good instead of all the garbage since your default list of 200 will be in order of best to worst.

there are bound to be a whole lot, but i'm sure we could come up with a list of all good and/or notable titles since there will be some that aren't worth your time.

also, if you come across something that was looked over from the last couple of years, let me know. :)

This comes from someone in this very forum. A couple weeks ago when this forum (and most other gaming forums) became the Crysis Forum for a few days, the topic discussed was Vista 64 and whether it can play older games. This guy - can't remember who - said old games are playable and he posted this screenshot. Comprehensive? No. Humorously thorough with most of the biggies of the last 10yrs? Yes.

Whoa!
Granted, they're not all FPS, but... whoa!

Actually, that's what I'm planning to put together myself :)

just to throw this in there, i recommend soldier of fortune 2, enable the gore and enjoy the action flick music, the graphics are dated by today's standards but it was a fun single player game for it's time
