is there a clear answer to why we like pain?

i always pick my scabs, and to not pick them is an effort for me, i don't know why..
why do people pick their scabs even though it causes pain?...doesn't picking them delay the healing process?...

I only pick scabs when I'm bored. I suppose it's an activity similar to tapping one's thumbs on the desk...it doesn't hurt that much, and it keeps you occupied doing something.

How else to scabs go away? I don't think I've ever had a scar that I didn't pick until it left a scar.

Or when I'm showering the scab will fall off by itself. Isn't that the same thing as picking it?
