Is there a better way than push-pins?

So I had a very hard time getting my heatsink on my board the first time, and I don't want to do it again when I replace my motherboard. Is there a better way to attach a heatsink than by the push-pins? I've heard there were attachments that would let you screw it in instead. Anyone have any recommendations?
