Is their really a difference?

Some people are saying you can tell the difference between DMA/66 and ATA/100, and some are not, so what is the truth?

Right now, no their is no performance gain over ATA66(or ATA33 for that matter). Most hard drives won't transfer faster than about 35mb per sec.

i dont think there are any drives that can keep a sustained throughput of much more than 35mbs (i've got a 75gxp and it can do maybe 32-33 max on the outer tracks, and its the fastest IDE out there). The only difference is on bursts from the cache of the drive which can transfer over 66mb/s but thats not really a big deal

I didn't notice a single thing when I enabled ata/100 over ata/66 so there probably isn't much of a change.
