Is The VW Jetta Right For An Asian Male?

In commercials, VW always has white males driving the Jetta. Is the Jetta right for an asian male? I'm thinking of getting a Jetta instead of a Civic EX or a Mazda Protege5 and something just isn't clicking. What do you think?
 
i think it would be fine.... Just make sure you get the 1.8t 🙂
 
Just buy the freakin' Jetta!

A: I'd take a jetta over a civic any day.

B: aren't all the car commercials pretty much composed of white males driving them? Who cares get what you want.

Dude, who do you think is driving the Civic . . . a white male. But I second apexII's vote for the 1.8T . . . but you will pay a premium over a loaded Civic EX.
 
Jettas are a lot more expensive than Civics! Over here they cost as much as Maximas!

A fully loaded Maxima GLE costs $37k and a fully loaded Jetta costs $39k with climate control and 17inch wheels/tires (both of which are included in the Maxima).

That's a lot of money for a car that small. Btw, the prices for a fully loaded Accord and Camry are similar to the Maxima as well...

EDIT: Just checked VW.ca again...a Jetta is more expensive than a Passat?? WTF? Somethings gotta be wrong with their site!

I'm looking to buy a used car this summer too, and with my limited budget, I can't afford much.....I would love to get a Jetta. I'm a 19 year old Chinese guy, and I love cars.........I want to drive a car that I respect, not what other clueless people know about it.

Granted, I'm thinking about selling part of my soul for a Prelude, mid 90's. That's all I want. 🙁 Anybody with any hook-ups, drop me a PM. 😉 In the meantime, I'll be over here dreaming of Preludes, Supra's and RX-7s.

^^^Just want to see how people are gonna bitch about "rice cars", since I love American/European cars just as much. ^_^

If a specific race or gender was ever applied to any car it would have to be an '89-'94(?) VW Cabriolet in white, which were mostly driven by spoiled, blonde (usually very cute) females! Ever see a male in one of these...LOL!!!!😀

Since then I don't know of any vehicle that has a gender/race based appeal except for Iroc Z's that were said to be driven by Italian males.

This shouldn't even be a factor in your decision and I can guarantee once you buy a VW you'll never look at a Civic, Accord, Camry whatever, ever again!

GET THE VW!!!!!!

Or like the commercial says... " The Boltswagen !... The Boltswagen !!"
 
I think that you should break the ethnic trend, and buy something that you almost NEVER see an Asian person driving. Something like an old Dodge Hemi, or an F-Series diesel pickup truck with dualie wheels. Why follow an existing stereotype, when you can create your own! 🙂

Passats are always more expensive than an equally appointed Jetta.

A passat is a MUCH larger car... Its VW's flagship right now until the new $50,000+ Phaeton comes out later this year...

You can hardly compare a Jetta to a Maxima (even if the LOADED Jetta GLX VR6 IS expensive)... one is a compact sedan, the other is a intermediate sport sedan. BTW he can grab a 2002 Jetta 1.8T with every option other than leather for $29,xxxCDN. I know, I priced them out.

And yes, a Passat is more expensive than a Jetta, it's a bigger car. If I was to get a Passat I would wait for the W8 version myself. 😀

Oh, and kenji, GO FOR THE JETTA! (although personally I would take a Golf/GTI over a Jetta.)

If you want to be "different" get a '93 Corrado G60. I've never seen an asian person in one, plus they're pretty sweet if you junk the supercharger and turbocharge it, the bottom end is pretty much the precursor to the 1.8T so it can handle some serious boost.
