Is the United States is reverting back to segregation and discrimination?

This my opinion, feel free to say what you think.

The Constitution's famous line, "We the people of the United States" is disintegrating every day. First, Indiana's new so-called "religious" law allowing discrimination against gay people in the free market and now Arkansas pending to enact one similar. So, that must mean that in time there will be select areas within our major cities for gays and straights to shop separately. This insinuates that in time segregation from all sides will return to our once "greatest country in the world." America is transforming into the most divisive country of animosity on Earth.

Things are a lot better now than they were 50 years ago. Sure there's certainly room for improvement but to imagine we will slide backwards to that is absurd.

There is nothing more in the world that we in the US enjoy more than re-litigating, and seemingly in very fixed intervals, the same social battles. Remember, we've been trying to litigate same-sex marriage for ages and now that the consensus is that the USSC will decide in favor of same-sex marriage we've simply begun a series of related conflicts.

If these laws go down or don't have their intended effect then new laws will be made. The laws OP brings up are just continuation of a long, long fight and, as such, I don't think they represent a new threat of discrimination or an escalation.

Due to the psychotic level of competitiveness in the American social system, competition is hate, the American psyche is subject to excessive levels of fear, fear of the foreigner, fear of the neighbor, fear of the other in any form the other can take. Competition produces the conservative brain defect.

But a new global ethic is emerging. Global communications, travel, international business ventures are causing human consciousness to evolve a new social ethic. Mutual self interest is driving new social norms. Ingrown backward tribal ethics are giving way to a global perspective, that we all inhabit a tiny speck of dust in space and we are all in it together, that we share the same oceans, and atmosphere, that borders are meaningless.

The rapidness of change today is more than the CBD can deal with and conservatives are losing their minds. Signs of the end times are everywhere for them. A frantic effort by Conservative Brain Defectives all over the world, is taking place to roll back the clock.

They were programmed as children to conform to millions of different social standards that are totally without relevance in the modern world. All the violence we see all over the world is the dividends we get from the violence they were subjected to as children. "You will conform because it's for your own good. Look what we do to people who are different. Be afraid of what is different." That's how we became brain dead.

Lols.

Anyway the race baiting in the media has damaged race relations in my opinion. As has wealth inequality. I prefer to just treat everyone as equals and not worry about it too much.

Kind of like starbucks' "race together" campaign that was nixed.

It was awkward for everyone. People just want to come in and grab a coffee without hassle.

Go read the original Article I Section II of the US Constitution to see just how far we're reverting back.

Hint: as bad as things may seem, we're still moving (incredibly slow) forward.

People hate themselves. Anything that causes self reflection, my post for example, causes discomfort. Your LOL isn't a new experience for me. I cover it in my ancient sig. I didn't come by what I know for free. The price will be as high for you as it was for me. Nothing cheap without reason.

Simply misguided souls. Sad and misguided.

After watching news coverage of the protest Saturday in Indiana, I had a bit of a change of heart. Not that anyone cares.
But now I really feel sorry for those people that feel they need legal protections from anyone they find distasteful.
This thing in Indiana and other similar states isn't really the problem of any minority, nothing is wrong with being Gay or Black or Jewish or Muslim. And any person within a minority should never feel second class, because they are not.

Nothing has changed with any of the minorities in question, or that have been targeted by this bill passed by Indiana.
What has actually changed is within the heart of the so called religious God fearing poor fools that can no longer cope with modern society as it is.
And that is not only sad, but their problem only, not the problem of any minority man or woman.

Fast forward, in the end, the Jewish, Gays, Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, they all will be just fine. But those that feel they have some God given religious right or obligation to treat others as they feel they must, those misguided lost souls will in the end suffer from their own hate.

Those religious freedom fighters believe Gays, for instance, are second classed citizens and despised by the teachings of God.
Actually, it is the other way around.
What they do against others, in his name, is what their God would truly despise.
Not following the "word". Not to judge. Not to hate. Loving thy neighbor. Forgiveness.
I suspect most of these self appointed biblical justices will one day realize their lost, sadness, loneliness, and misguided works.
And if anyone is to be harshly judged by biblical scripture, it will be those that hate and those that judge others.

The Gays? They will be just fine.

Politics and religion never mix.
Believing in the mixing of the two, is like dancing with the devil.
And remember the bible and what it predicts.
There will be many believers that are misguided by not only false prophets, but misguided by worshiping false idols.
And the mixing of politics with religion? The perfect example of an false idol.

Let them have their little freedom of religion bill(s).
Let all the states pass such laws.
The only thing that proves is they have no idea of the true biblical teachings.
And while they might feel they are on the side of God, they are anything but.
They are indeed sad, lost, confused, misguided souls.
And God help them.
As for the Gays? The minorities?
They will be just fine.
They have not lost their way.
It is those that believe in passing such laws against others, that have lost their way.

America is not reverting anywhere. Republicans are trying to, but everyone is looking at them like they just took a dump in the middle of the room.

This is horrible. We could end up with city's that have certain sections described by their ethnic makeup.

Some of you kids are truly clueless.

You're so fucking stupid it makes my head hurt. How can someone who knows how to read and write be so absolutely one track in their thinking?

Can't be that stupid if you couldn't even muster a counter argument and could only come up with a lame ad-hominem.

His counter argument flew far above your head.

Major cities are almost all Democrat controlled, yes? You think they aren't heavily segregated with entire sections defined by ethnicity / race? You call out Republicans wanting to turn back... but that which you'd rail against is already heavily implemented across the nation.

This nation's white / black neighborhoods say hi.

How is that a counter argument?

President Alinsky wants people agitated and divided (and he wants anarchy) . Obama could go to heaven and get people at odds

“The despair is there; now it’s up to us to go in and RUB RAW the sores of discontent, galvanize them for radical social change. We’ll give them a way to participate in the democratic process, a way to exercise their rights as citizens and strike back at the establishment that oppresses them, instead of giving in to apathy. We’ll start with specific issues — taxes, jobs, consumer problems, pollution — and from there move on to the larger issues: pollution in the Pentagon and the Congress and the board rooms of the megacorporations. Once you organize people, they’ll keep advancing from issue to issue toward the ultimate objective: people power. We’ll not only give them a cause, we’ll make life goddamn exciting for them again — life instead of existence. We’ll turn them on.

  1. You cannot "revert back" to what is already present.
  2. And it's present everywhere, not just Republican controlled states.

As the older generations die out we can grow out of the "present", enacting new laws that enforce discrimination stunt that growth.

He seems to think that because discrimination exists everywhere that it can't get worse when it is clear that all over the country conservatives are trying to make it that way. Naturally they can't allow themselves to see it because being a racist is evil and knowing one is evil is bad for one's ego. So we get all the typical blind denial and pleading of innocence. The CBD can hide from itself, but it can't hide from those not infected.

Why does anyone you are doing business with need to know if you are gay or not?

Do people go in a business and say " Hi, I'm gay and I would like to buy (whatever ) ".

Same with race. Why does anybody need to know you are black. Just don't tell the business person who is helping you what color you are.
