Is the sleep you get between "snoozes" more restful?

Lets say you set your alarm for 7AM, then snooze until 7:15AM, is that 15 minutes a better sleep?

Or would it be better just to set the alarm for 7:15AM & get up?

All I know is that I have some wild, long dreams in those 15 minutes. Why does our brain go straight
into insane REM sleep after you hit the snooze button?

I never use the snooze button so I couldn't say.

yep. I have 2 alarms on my phone set to go between 5 and 3 or so minutes in between, in addition to my regular alarm clock set to go off first, and I either hit snooze or actually turn it off. Yea, I hate getting up. My sleep is so crazy visual (although I rarely recall it later in the day, and I really only recall faint details, or truthfully nothing at all). I always dream. Often I feel very lucid iirc. But the sad part is my memory of them. Doesn't it suck knowing you have such detailed and amazingly dramatic dreams, but you can't recall them? I should honestly try and get up early and write down simply idea bullet points, to see if I begin to remember detail later when presented with a little. That's how my mind works normally... if I am presented with details of any memory I have, I can basically photographically recall in my mind those memories. It's awfully enjoyably, I'm not gonna lie. :)
But on to the more specific topic...
Yes. Those few precious minutes in between scheduled alarms, wow I think I usually go right back into the main dream, and it becomes episodic. It's actually kind of crazy now that I remember how it usually is. Ooo I look forward to sleep, I really do. But I get so little of it, I never want to get up because I just want to sleep more, get the number of hours that I need. But I don't get that, not usually.

For me, yes. I always set my alarm early, then take like 10 minute naps until I need to wake up. For some reason that's much easier for me that just getting up.

It sure seems so. I have my alarm set on my cell phone to wake up at 5:45 and then another alarm at 6:00 and then a final at 6:15. Sometimes if I'm really tired I'll change the first alarm to 6:30 for another 15 minutes so that I get in the shower on time.

When my alarm wakes me out of deep sleep, I feel like crap (literally nauseous). I hit the snooze and go back to sleep. Twice. The third time I wake up, I feel rested and ready to wake up.

Oh man I love sleepin'!
Sometimes I wake up early just so I can go back to sleep again!

You're not properly sleeping during the snooze -- you're waking up, which is why you can more easily remember the dreams. So the difference is between abruptly waking up and gently waking up over more time. Most people prefer gently waking up, but there's also something to be said for sleeping deeply when you should be sleeping and being awake fully when should be awake and minimizing the in-between states. Good deep sleep is very important to health, and most of us would do better getting more sleep, and would find it easier to wake up when we do.

OTOH, there's nothing like the quiet of 3-5 am or so for philosophical thoughts, etc..

Mebbe it depends upon what part of the cycle yer in (presuming not awaking completely). I find sometimes being in a half-sleep condition can slow down the perception of time. Dunno if that is more restful, per se, but it is pleasurable -certainly do not want to get up during that.

There's a freebee "ebook" (PDF) available entitled _How To Sleep & Have More Energy_ that I've been meaning to give a go (try out techniques) for some time. The intro looks cheesy and I think the intent is to sell some light gadget as I recall but the info seems legit.

that's when all my really deep thoughts come in to focus. Some nights just end up really further building and defining my inner character.
