I always hear about how the Mac OS is a lot easier to use, which doesn't really matter to me because I'm fairly good with computers... however...

I've been using Win7 for a while now and I really don't know how much more simple shit can get. Is the simplicity of Mac>Windows just a dated argument or does it still hold true today?

What say ATOT?

Each OS has it's own advantage/disadvantage. I've been using both since their earliest versions came out... but lately I've preferred using OS X Lion. 😉
 
They are simple for me, I don't support them.

I've been slowly converting friends over to them. When they have issues my response is...sorry, I have a PC so I don't know how to fix macs.

They are supposed to just work without much support anyhow. I figure if they need help they can just bring it to the mac store and have one of the "geniuses" help them. I think that's what apple calls their support people anyhow.
 
I never found Apple particularly easy. None of it is especially hard. When you get down to it, Linux is probably the easiest. Any decent O/S is made for the dumbest fucker on the planet. A lot of time is spent making things easy to use. Anyone having issues is focusing on the wrong thing by looking at the O/S.
 
Windows 7 is harder to use than XP and Vista combined. MSN Messenger needs to run in compatibility mode just to make it sit in the system tray instead of keeping several windows in the task bar all the time.

Everyone I know who prefers a Mac also has to use Windows for work or gaming. So I never did get that argument. Most people who use Windows only learn how to use Windows, but most Mac users end up learning to use both. So isn't learning both harder than just learning Windows?

I guess it is, but knowing multiple operating systems is not a bad thing.
 
I find the "easier" something gets, the more infuriating it is for me. There is a difference between streamlining and making it retarded.

The new ribbon interface really gets me because instead of everything being RIGHT THERE in a quick drop down menu, "insert" "graph" done

Now thers graphics EVERYWHERE which spreads information around a large area and make sit a pain in the ass to figure out where stuff is. Kind of the like the non classic control panel
 
Why on earth would you ask that here?

You may as well post a poll that says what's better? A rock or an Apple product...

You'll end up with 75&#37; of posters voting for the rock and starting a flame war...
 
It is hard for me because I have never used a mac on a regular basis.

W7 works fine for anything I need to do plus it is the best for gaming.
 
I have a Mac and PC side-by-side on my desk at work, and use both equally for 8+ hours per day (all design work on Mac, all proprietary company software and some testing on PC).

What I've found is this: OS X is much more pleasant to use for long periods of time than Windows, without question. Organization feels A LOT more natural and intuitive in OS X (color-coded labels FTW). My workflow also feels a little smoother.

That being said, Windows is much better for compatibility and consistency's sake, at least where I work &#8211; None of my clients have Macs, and I've run into some weird compatibility issues between Mac and PC (mainly with Microsoft Office).

It still is a big issue.

W7 cannot find drivers for the Motorola DCH-3416 when I connect it via Fire wire. Mac OS X finds it instantly, I don't have to install it. ^_^

I let a 5 year old play with a laptop with W7 and a MacBook Pro, guess what they kept going back to.
