I have one of these PS's I upgrades into my Dell Optiplex 990 miniTower. I love it. I like the fan hybrid design and ideally would like to put one of there into my XPS 420 to replace an under powered power stock supply.
My concern is, while I know the Seasonic X series is excellent, it's been out since 2009 and I'm wondering what else of equal quality in the 650 watt range is available with even better components and technology in a hybrid fan design?
Or is the Seasonic 650 X series still state of the art?
DO I need a pure Sine Wave UPS to protect this power supply as opposed to the square wave that APC's consumer/enthusiast UPS's supply? I know with my iMac, the APC sometimes switches over acceptable power to keep the iMAC going when there is a power outage and sometimes the APC Back Ups 1500 square wave technology just lets the iMac die when there is a power anomaly with line voltage.
What else is out there to compete with Seasonic X 650? Corsair 650 Gold seems to be becoming older technology too at the pace electronics technology is progressing.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
