I have the Radeon VE Dual Head. It is a decent 2d card, but lacks a little in the 3d, but you said thats what he is looking for. As for watching movies, I will assume you mean DVD's, so that is what this applies to. The Radeon VE will only display the DVD on the primary monitor, you said "so he cab watch movies on his TV and play them on his PC, that is possible, but not at the same time. Other then that it is a great card.

Sorry for the spelling errors. Let's say he has a movie on his hard drive and play it full screen using Windows media Player with the correct codec loaded. What is the best Video card with a TV out that will be able to play the movie on his TV?

Any ideas?

I'd also like to know.

Does any duel head card let you connect a tv and monitor, and switch when you want. So, watch a DVD on the tv rather than the monitor, etc??

The Radeon VE allows you to connect a TV and monitor at the same time, and use both at the same time. The only exceptions are that only the Primary monitor gets the DVD playback and hardware 3D acceleration.

The radeon cards would be the best solution for DVD playback, my VE works fine for that, for just a MPEG movie, pretty much any card with TV out would be good.

i have this but SDR Version. i love mine. hooked my 19in and 17in for now until i get my 2nd system fixed. anyways, i love the dual head that has to offer! the software that comes w/ it is great to switch windows and u can surf 2 webpages at same time (thats what i do). You can only watch DVD on primary concector which is the monitor and u can surf the web on the second output wheater its a tv or another monitor conn. As far as it goes for 3D i havent tested it. i will test UT this week and let u know if u want but i love the 2D of it already!!!! I recommend getting this but in the DDR flavor.
