For the theater experience.

You can get a better "theater experince" at my home theater than the real thing.....

two seats != theatre experience

You're right... I don't know what I would do without all the obnoxious people in the theater with me, they are the core of the theater experience hehe

FWIW.

I own the DVD and have a nice HT.

BUT

I would pay $20 to sit in a theater that was half-full with ONLY adults over 25 years old to watch the original Matrix blasted at high volume. Unless you got da big bucks, nothing compares to a real theater. :):beer:

Absolutely -- but I'm 24 in May, can I come too? j/k

The theaters around here don't know how to turn their stuff up loud enough, it's annoying. Living in an apartment sucks too, no loud movies there either.

I hope the new Matrix won't $uck. Usually I avoid sequels just like ads on the left side, besides the third movie with Austin Powers which IMHO is the best of them.

But would anyone pay to see it at an IMAX theater? I saw it at an IMAX a little while after it came out...ohh...so sweet
It sucked on IMAX. That's why it has already been announced that Reloaded and Revolutions will NOT be released on IMAX format...they lost a ton of money.

The reason: they simply blew up 35mm. IMAX doesn't do 35, so blowing up 35 is similar to zooming 400 on a jpeg.

There's a new process the new IMAX owners came out with last year. Apollo 13 was first for the new conversion process. There are several others, such as The Lion King, re-mastered for the new IMAX conversion. Haven't seen it personally, but I've heard it blows away earlier IMAX conversions, like The Matrix.

As far as seeing it in the theatre again: I originally saw it in the worst "modern" theatre in the Northwest when it came out. If it was in a decent theatre, I would definitely see it again...as long as it isn't a Special Edition.

(yes, I have a decent HT and the DVD, and have watched it over a dozen times...)

How do you know it's dumb if you've never watched it?

It would appear that AOHell/Time Warner had a change of heart about doing an IMAX conversion for the next two movies. I don't believe anybody knew about this when I made my original post stating they would not do IMAX again after what happened last time.

I'm not complaining, tho'...there's an IMAX theatre just 10 minutes away from my house, so...happy me
