OK My friend wants to buy a new monitor and he's a cheap ass, he wants to know if the Optiquest Q95 which is 19" is any good. It'll cost him about $275 Shipped, should he buy this monitor or save up and get another 1. I told him to go for it, but I wanted to make sure that this monitor is pretty good. I got to admit the price is great that's why I have some doubts.

Thanks,
Nore

For 275 I would at least consider a Smasung 955 DF. With manufacturer's rebate and coupon I think you can beat 275 at Onvia.com

It's a good monitor but if you want to run it @ 1280x1024 your eyes might be strained.

That monitor I think only supports either 75hertz @ 1280x1024 or 60hertz, I don't remember. I would consider Samsung 955 if I were you. People like that monitor a lot.

I have one its a decent monitor but its very old. Over 2 years now. 1600 by 1200 is not very clear and the refresh rate is a mere 60Hz.

Viewsonic (yes I know its the same company) makes a better monitor there PF790? Nice flat screen with a high refresh rate.

The Samsung 955 is not very good. Text looks blurred on my roommates monitor at high resolutions (anything above 1280) it looks fine on my Optiquest V95.

It is an OK moniter. Make sure that when you look at reviews that you are looking at the right ones. Optiquest makes both a V95 and a Q95. In the post above finality refers to the V95, not the same monitor as the Q95 mentioned in the initial post. The specs on the V95 are better than the Q95 and from what I have seen the V95s have a much better picture than the Q95. ( I have two V95 s, when I looked at the Q95 it wasn't as good so I got a Samsung 950P. It was a much nicer picture than the V95 (or Q95 for that matter) but is is normally more money. You friend should think about what resolution he wants to use most of the time. I found text on the V95 and Q95 to be quite fuzzy above 1280x1024. I just wnet and checked and Onvia.com has the Samsung 950p for $270 w free shipping. So he may want to consider it instead. So far everyone that has looked at my systems (side by side same video cards) have preferred the 950p to the V95 (which I feel has a superior picture to the Q95 ). Just something to think about. Hope I was of help.
