Is the only difference between the P67 UD4 and Z68 UD4 SSD Caching?

Since you *have* to have a discreet video card with the Z68 UD4 anyway, is the only difference between the Z68 and P67 versions of the board going to be SSD caching?

Or am I missing something?

There are some other features such as quick sync and you can use lucid virtu to probably save some power when not doing 3D.

I thought those things required the use of the onboard graphics card? Since Gigabyte's Z68 mobos require a discreet, I figured those wouldn't work?

Actually you CAN use the IGP on a board with no video out, by running Virtu in D-mode you can run code on the IGP, then copy the frame buffer to the GPU to output via the GPUs DVI/HDMI/DP.

The problem is that the Gigabyte Z68 boards which don't have on-board video connectors are not advertized as having Virtu compatibility. Maybe that will change in the future, but right now Gigabyte is pulling a lot of backasswards stuff on their Z68 line. :thumbsdown:
