Is the olympus 360l a decent camera?

Olympus makes decent cameras. If I were you, though, I'd be shooting for a 2.1mpx camera. The D-360 has a 3x Optical Zoom which is good. On the bad side, the D-360 only offers a slow serial output and does not support CompactFlash Type-II media like IBM's Microdrive.

Yes. I own this camera. Everything about the cam is great. Solid photos, decent options and nice software.

My only gripes are the crappy batterry life. You need to go pick up a set of 4 NiMH batteries and a charger. Also, the camera will only work with the Camedia software that comes with the camera. I would much rather input my photos directly into Photoshop. Olympus is locked into a deal with Camedia so they can only make new cameras that use their software.

At around $250, the D360-L is the perfect first timer Digital Camera.

Thanks but now I have another question or two?? Does it matter what kind of charger? will this one work? Text What does machine specific mean?
Do I need an ac adpater? I noticed that staples is giving one w/ purchase, I already bought the camera from amazon for $213 so should I get the adapter to save on batteries?
If you can't tell this is my first digital camera I've lurked on this board for 1+ yr and I am asking here cuz I know you guys know your sh*t!!

don't get the 360,
spend a little more and get a 450/460z.
It has true optical zoom, a lot of quality features, and is a good all around camera. If you use a flash path adapter, you don't ned to worry about the serial connection. The battery usage on the 450 is not that bad.

If anyone wants to refute that, come try my nikon coolpix 880.

You'll be happy you can use AA batteries.

A friend of mine got the 450 and everytime he came over, he would scrounge for AA bateries. Hell you could use up a set of batteries just downloading images on the serial cable.

I was going to get the 450 until I saw that. Instead, I got the Toshiba PDR-M5 and I love it. It comes with the charger and uses USB for downloads. I saw that the price went down from 700 to 450 recently! I just added a smart media 64 Meg card for $100 (shop around) that can hold 66 1600x1200 Full Quality images, more than enough..
